RPGLE Barcode scan error

We have a customer that is having trouble scanning barcodes in one of our apps using the Google Pixel. He gets an error that says "Text only contains white space(s)[ pos= 0]". They say that this only happens occasionally (a couple times a month) but when it does that LongRange has to be uninstalled and reinstalled to get it to work again. That seems to fix the problem temporarily and can then scan the same barcode that caused the error. This doesn't happen on any other phone. Seems to be isolated to the Pixel.

I was wondering if there are any known problems with the Google Pixel or what could be causing this problem.

We'd like to know more details about this issue:
  • The Android version of customer's device
  • Did this error only happen with a specific barcode or any barcode?
    if it only happened with a specific barcode, it would be good if they can provide the barcode sample to us.
  • Did this error happen after scanning a barcode or after submit barcode to server?
  • Can customer turn on client log, reproduce this issue again and send the client log file to LANSA Support
  • Instead of uninstall, can customer try out killing off the app when this issue happen and restart again see if it can get problem fixed?
