Windows 10 ContextMenu

Post by soapagent »

The new windows 10 client looks good and everything I've tried so for looks OK. I have a couple of questions/issues re the context menus.

Firstly I notice that it slides up a command bar from the bottom of the screen. Would it be possible for these to display as 'normal' context menus. These are available as part of the universal programming model. This would make consistent with the iOs version. Also the options are long way from the item you've clicked and the context is lost (I'm using an 8 inch Toshiba).

Secondly, we've specified an override of the icon/graphic used to show context menus - this does not appear on the Windows 10 client.

Third, when clicking a context menu I occasionally receive a message stating that the required resource failed to download (can't give you the exact words because I can't make it happen now!). As far as I can see there was no resource involved, ie I was issuing a command to be performed by the current program.

Other than that it seems pretty solid. If Microsoft's plan to put W10 on one billion devices within 2 years comes true (or even close) then this could be a major platform for LANSA (and RPG) delivery.

1) Placement of context menu - sounds good, we have been mulling over for a while if it should be the case (to appear just like normal popup menu).
We'll get this done as suggested.

2) Custom icon for context menu icon not appearing - we'll get this fixed.
