RDMLX - Barcodes
RDMLX - Barcodes
A couple of things
I have a form with a MultipleEntries Barcode with Allowduplicates(False) but when I hold my ipad over a barcode it will register new barcodes (ie the counter will tick over) every few seconds for as long as I hold ipad over the barcode. This often happened while I was trying to frame the barcode, I would look down to the status bar and found I'd scanned 2 or 3 times. Is this behavior correct?
I copied the set_barcode statement from of LREX0016 unchanged.
As it happens I actually want duplicates as the user may be sending two packages using the same label but it would be entremely helpful if;
1. There could be a setting to Beep or some other audible signal on a positive scan, This means that the user wouldn't need to look at the status bar to know they'd captured the data. This is in a warehouse setting so we need to make it loud.
2. The scanned counter on the barcode/camera screen is quite small. It would be good to have a bit more control over the size/layout of this UI element. We have some short sighted old blokes in this warehouse. I realise that a balance has to be struck - especially if a phone is used. Perhaps a transparent overlay in a large point size?
We are currently using the industrial style ruggedised barcode readers and setting these up to scan into little WEBEVENT webpages running in IE in Windows compact 6.5 is no fun!
We could really improve this process using smartphones and they are heaps cheaper as well!

The cost comment is interesting.
With an iPod touch you could get an even cheaper device - sans phone/SMS of course - which could be a benefit I guess.
You can get them sub $200 AUD at the moment.

For (1) - I have tried my example on iPad and iPhone - both make a loud beep when a scan completes.
The volume of the is influenced by the device's volume setting.
Can you confirm you are getting no sound?

Re: RDMLX - Barcodes
I've just checked and the volume is on max but no sound is emitted. This is on an iPad 4 using ios4 (I think).
I'm no apple expert so its perfectly possible that there's some seting I've messed up.

Re: RDMLX - Barcodes
Updating the iPad to version 5 fixed the lack of beeps. Still getting unwanted duplicates though.

The team will investigate the Allowduplicates issue and get back to the forum.

Re: RDMLX - Barcodes
We have confirmed there is an issue with duplicate handling.
A new client version should be released in the next week or so that rectifies this.

This client version should now be available from the App store.
Re: RDMLX - Barcodes
I've installed it and 'noduplicates' works as advertised. Well done guys.
