LongRange and aXes

Post by JoeHam »

Hello everybody,

on one hand we are developing new apps with LongRange and on the other hand we are modernizing our 5250 ERP system using aXes.
Now we had the idea to combine these two things by starting aXes sessions inside of LongRange by using web views.
Are there any LongRange APIs or functions to control aXes sessions from within LongRange? If not, is there anything planned to combvine these two products?

By testing this scenario we got some problems that I would like to post:
- positioning the cursor on a date field (customized in aXes with date extension) always evokes the keyboard not the iPad calendar functionality
- numeric fields are not recognized (would be fine if the numeric keyboard would be opened instead of the alphanumeric one)
- in an aXes screen we open a new website with window.open (target = _blank) so that the page will be shown in a new window. When using this aXes screen in LongRange web view the new website replaces the current page and there is no way back to the previous aXes screen.

I know that this may be - on the first look - a strange way of using LongRange but we have a lot of "good looking" and "fine working" modernized aXes screens now that could be used on tablets as well - and the big advantage (maybe not only for us but for a lot of other LongRange customers, too) would be: re-use of the existing complex business logic of existing 5250 applications and by this saving a lot of development time.

Many thanks in advance - and merry Christmas to all of you and thank you for the great support work you're doing here!

Hi Joerg,
Yes this is on our list, however at this stage it is a low priority.
As always, we can boost this up the list if this requirement is a vital part of a customer's project.
