Hi,
I believe RV12 provides windows support for LongReach.
Is this mean that users can install LongReach on Windows server even if LongRange works on their IBM i ,to share documents between these servers?
Or are the users able to use LongReach on Windows only when LongRange works on their Windows server?

Hi Megumi,
I am a little unsure about exactly what you are asking. Could you give a little more detail of what you are trying to achieve.
Windows support for LongReach was introduced specifically for LongRange LANSA from Windows servers but because LongReach is webserver based I don't think it cares where the requests come from. However, Windows support for LongReach was not designed for cross platform file sharing and certainly wasn't tested in that manner so I can't guarantee that there won't be any problems with using it that way. Both Windows and IBM i have their own methods of mapping file servers.
If I was clearer on what you wanted to do I could try some things out.

Re: (RDMLX) windows support for LongReach
Hi Paul,
I was asking about sharing files between cross platforms.
I imagine the case that users use LongRange for LANSA on their IBM i and would like to read/write a file on Windows server.
Then I thought LongReach might be able to act as a solusion for file sharing in that case.
OK, now I understand that LongReach is not supposed to use for cross-platform file sharing.
I'll tell them to code manually with RDMLX to do so.
Thank you!

Hi Megumi,
I didn't really mean that LongReach is not supposed to used for cross platform file sharing. Just that it was not designed and tested with that in mind. There would be nothing to stop you trying it by setting the <servicesProvider> tag in your client.xml LongRange config file to point to a Windows LongReach server.
Paul.
